Kirtan is one of the oldest sacred music traditions in the world and traces its roots to India, and resembles the Christian tradition of Taize and Gregorian chants. It is a merging of music, mantra and meditation that guides us to the ‘Kingdom of God within.’
Growing up in the Catholic Church, and later attending Catholic University with a degree in Music, the seed for deepening my faith through song, prayer and devotion was planted.
I traveled as a singer/dancer for about 10 years and noticed all the unique ways that people worship and pray. Totally fascinating to me, and being exposed to many forms of meditation, mantra, and music; I found that I was naturally singing my own stuff. Sharing this with others has become my passion, mostly because it leads others to their Purpose and Passion.
As soon as I got back home I recorded some of them and began sharing this experience with Christians and believers alike. Through Divine Grace, an amazing group of devoted musicians are now assembled and we’re sharing the Light with a hip, fun and accessible sound. We have a contemporary jazz feel, which makes it fun to listen to even if ya simply want to enjoy the music instead of respond to the simple melodies and mantras as a devotion.
The purpose of Kirtan is to clear the mind, turn the focus inward and open our hearts. It’s like listening to a choir and being part of it at the same time.
Its a new and innovative way to pray and heal. (except it’s really not new)
It is fun though!! You feel aligned to Source and totally harmonized in mind and body.
Deep healing occurs, because as the vibration of the group aligns itself to the Divine through sacred sound and the repetition of the Word, false pretense and fear melts away.
We love sharing our music with new communities, bringing them together more closely in the spirit of friendship, fellowship and personal expression of faith, hope and love.
